A day at Iligan

Last August 15 of last year, Boo and I went to Iligan for an overnight stay. We arrived at Iligan around 10 in the evening because we also had a team bonding with my agents earlier that afternoon.

So when we arrived at Iligan, Boo and I stopped over MSU IIT to look for a place to stay. Our friend told us that a Pension House was located nearby but the problem was we could not find it. So what we did was to walk backwards from MSU IIT and started looking for any sign boards that would lead us to the Famous Pension house. Luckily, we saw a big sign board that says its kilometers away ahead. So we walked ahead and get passed a Sanitarium and to our luck, we saw Famous's big sign. We walk towards it and finally found the place. We checked in at 11PM and payed 350 for the air-conditioned room that includes a TV.

After putting in all our luggage, we went out to take our dinner. We stopped by at Jollibee to eat then went to Mercury Drug to buy some toiletries then off we went back to Famous riding a taxi that costs us around 40 pesos.

It was already late and we need to rest our bodies from the long journey. So we both took a half bath then settled in our bed to sleep.

Morning came, Boo and I went to the City Proper to roam around and get the chance to ride one of their Kalesas. Iligan's city proper was a small one and the jeepney's just roam around it so it was easy to get familiar with the place. We dropped by to one of the ukay-ukays and I even bought a black mini-skirt that costs 50 pesos and Boo bought me a cute stuff toy. We alsot tried riding their Kalesa which was a wish that Boo granted. It was not really my first time riding the Kalesa, it was the second but the first ride was when I was still 7-8 years old so I kinda fogot the feeling of how it is to ride the Kalesa.

Here's our pictures riding the Kalesa:

Around 11 am, Boo and I returned to the house to rest a little then pack up our things to check- out. We decided to go to Timoga to take a dip in the pool. Unfortunately when we arrive there, the pool was closed due to an accident. One of the vendors there told us that there was a boy who died in the pool and that is why they closed it. He then suggested that we go to Maze instead because for sure they are open for the day.

We then found a lechonan on the other side of the road. We decided to buy half a kilo and decided to take our lunch there. Surprisingly, the ambience was great because it was near the sea side. They also have a grotto on the side that makes the place more attractive.

After taking our lunch, we asked the lechon vendors on how to get to Maze. They were so kind in giving us directions. So we rode a Buru-on Jeep and stopped at the crossing where we would be riding a habal-habal going to Maze.

We finally arrived at Maze. The entrance fee was 30-50 pesos. Maze was not only an area for swimming but they also have a Park where you can roam around, fish ponds where you can fish and a Hotel where you can hold your functions or a place where you can just stay for a night.

A lot of people were there when we arrive so we chose the pool that has less people in it. From there we took a dip in the pool and did a few swims.

After an hour of swimming, we decided to pack up and change. The habal-habal arrived 20 minutes later after we changed clothes. So after riding the habal-habal, we rode the Buru-on jeepney again to bring us to the City Proper. From there we rode a Tambo jeep that would bring us to the Bus terminal.

Another day has passed and our Iligan adventure was quite different compared to before. It was not our first time in Iligan but it was an unforgettable place for Boo and I. It was where everything started, it was where everything was shown and where everything was realized.

I would not mind going there over and over again because this place was like a second home to us. A day at Iligan has brought us a lot of treasured memories and has given us memories that we would not forget.
