Iligan City: A Totally Different Experience
Tired from work, Boo and I need to unwind a bit to keep out from the monotony of our work. And because we were saving money for the upcoming wedding, we did not really had the chance to travel but since we really need the break, we decided that it's time to think of ourselves once more.
Last April of this year, we went to Iligan during our 2 rest days to somehow get a different breeze and a new environment from what we have here in CDO. We left for CDO Wednesday afternoon riding a bus going to Iligan. This time our trip was different because we were seated at the back most part of the bus. This gives me a feeling that our trip would be totally different from the last time and it kind of made me so excited. :) It was also so exciting to think that Boo and I brought our caps with us, our neckbands, my mp4, his PSP and we were both wearing slippers. We both looked like two best buds. :)
Here's our pics in the bus:
The trip was smooth and I was not dizzy throughout the trip as expected. We arrived at the Iligan proper almost 6 in the evening. We then rode a multi-cab going to the City. Unfortunately this cab took the other road than the usual which we haven't seen before. And I'd say this was a totally different trip! It was a 30 minute ride before we finally arrived near the Post Office which was a landmark that we kept in mind from the times that we were in Iligan.
I believe God had a plan for us that time because when we stopped over the Post Office the cab driver dropped us near Iligan's Cathedral. So what we did was we went to the church and lighted up candles on the Church's Candelaria. After so, we decided to spend the night at Famous. But before going there, we stopped over our favorite barbeque station for a take out order which was a few walks away from the church. We then proceed to ride a multi-cab going to Famous.
Here's our pics while lighting the candes:
After arriving in Famous, the receptionist told us that there were no more rooms available that has a television in it because it was all fully booked. Then she called up their other branch to check if there was a room available and there was. So this was a totally different experience because we get to stay on the older branch which was still a few walks away from Famous's new branch.
The room that was given to us costs 400 pesos and it was a big room for two: one king size bed, tv, tables and chairs, air-conditioned and a nice green bathroom. This was a totally different room from what we had the last time we were in Iligan.
Here's our pictures at Famous (old branch):
The next day, Boo and I woke up early and had our breakfast. We rested a bit, prepared for the day and checked out at 12 noon. We then started searching for our next stopover-Cheradel. We rode a multi-cab that has a sign of Villa Verde on it and finally arrived to Cheradel. We checked in, put our luggage and went out to eat lunch. It was easy going out because there were multi-cabs from the crossing. We took our lunch at Senior Pedro and our lunch costed us a 120 plus: half lechon manok, 6 puso, oyap and 2 bottled Pepsi. It was hmmm.... yummmyyy!!!
After our sumptous meal, we went out to look for shorts because Boo forgot to bring his shorts for swimming. So we took a look at the Ukay2x then proceed to Trendline. We could not find any shorts that would fit Boo and his liking so we roamed around a bit and I was able to buy a green headband on the way. On the other side, we then saw an all-in-one Supermarket where there's RTW on its second floor. From there, Boo was able to buy 3 shorts for a 100 peso. Quite good enough. In from of the Supermarket was a grocery store, we then went to buy food and toiletries needed for our overnight stay. After buying groceries, we headed back to Cheradel.
The room given to us was painted with yellow with yellow furnitures and with yellow toilet. We rested a bit and took our snacks again.

Later that evening, Boo and I decided to go out to buy dinner from our favorite barbeque station. Since it was already 7 pm, there we no multi-cabs around anymore so what we did was to walk from Cheradel and to the post office which was really near if you ride a multi-cab and a 30 minute walk if you walk by foot.
After buying dinner, going home was another problem because there we no multi-cabs going to Cheradel anymore. One of the townspeople informed us that we can go there through riding a sikad which we did. It was really a different experience and we took a different road. The trip took us 30 minutes before we finally arrived at Cheradel.
While riding the sikad:
We took our dinner and prepared for a night swim on the pool. There were still people on the pool so what I did was to take pictures on myself wearing my new knitted two-piece.
When the people had left the pool, we went down to take a dip ourselves and of course took our pictures again. The pool was small but the ambiance surrounding it was nice.
Here's our pictures at the Pool:
After a few swims, we went back to our room and took our rest for an another adventure the next day.
The next day, Boo and I decided to stay at Cheradel until check out so we could make most of the time and money we've spent for the room.
After we checked out, Boo and I rode a Buru-un jeep going to Timoga to eat the famous lechon of Iligan. The lechonan was located in front of Timoga Pool Resort. As compared to last time, we ate lechon near the sea side but this time, we ate on the second floor of their mini restaurant.
Here's our pcitures at the lechonan:
After we ate lunch, we visited Gloria's Ancestral home which was just infront of the lechonan.
The house was still under renovation but you get to see Gloria's playhouse and so her father's monuments. The place looked as if there were a lot of memories shared with a daughter and a father. :) After taking some pictures, off we went to the Bus terminal to head home. We finally arrived at CDO at around 6 in the evening.
As I recall what has taken place during our trip, I'd say that this was the best. The places we went to somehow had a reason in it and was like a spider web connected to each other to create a beautiful trip, wove a beautiful web. I guess every trip is different and unforgettable but it's how you make it and make the most of it with someone that makes the memory of the trip last forever.
